Seeing what one shipment costs — in distance and in money
Planning shipments and fleet by measurement.
Routes are built on the driver's habit and the instinct of the day. Whether the truck left full or half empty is a matter of opinion. Cost per shipment appears at month end as one lump total.
The route is computed from stops, load and time windows. The distance and load-fill of every shipment stay on record. Planned route and actual route sit side by side.
An illustrative first build: a production workshop's weekly shipments are gathered onto one planning screen. Stops, vehicle capacities and delivery hours go in, and the route is computed against those constraints. The driver closes each delivery on a phone, logging distance and time. At the end of the week, planned and actual routes are compared. Wasted distance stops being an opinion and becomes a record.
